Th Nutcracker

Friday night, Brent and I and the older kids went to see The Nutcracker - performed by the company from Avery's dance studio. We went with a friend from Avery's school class named Emma and her parents. We ate dinner at a cool place called Nacho Mama in downtown Augusta and then the ballet was at the old historical theatre downtown. Avery loved watching the Nutcracker and kept looking at me with this big ole smile...and Griffin sat surprising still and really got into it as well!

And then on Saturday, the dance studio sponsored an event called "Tea and Tutus." We had a girls date - Avery and I went with Emma and her mom. We had a "tea party" with a great lunch and the girls made a ballet slipper Christmas ornament, heard a storyteller tell the story of the Nutcracker, and got to have their pictures taken with some of the cast. It was really well done and we both enjoyed it!

  1. I love this kind of thing. JP has talked me into the candy molds this year that y'all used to do as kids. He so fondly remembers it. I'm nervous about the chaos of melted chocolate all over the place. We'll see how it goes and I'll let you know. You may have to do that with your kids at some point too! I'm so glad to see Avery happy and excited about ballet and performances in general. What a cultured little girl she is!
