S.O.S.

Brent and I are in WAY over our heads!!! We did some painting this last weekend in the dining/play room and in our living room. When we moved the couch out to paint behind it, we noticed that the wall was bowing (spelling?) and I diagnosed some "pitting edema" - AKA wet sheet rock! So a plumber came today and found the leak - nothing major in and of itself - very small but steady - and it was easily fixed....but the amount of wet and moldy sheet rock, wood, flooring, etc that followed is major. Brent did a "demolition" job this evening and now we have a disastrous mess...we are going to try to get our home owner's insurance guys out here to take a look and then go from there...here are a few pictures...

the original leak
look at all the wetness and mold - yuck!

there was actually a puddle of standing water in this space (under the stairs)

  2. OH NO!!!! i never knew walls could "bow". Oh what a mess, and i bet that mold freaks you out - have the kiddies been reacting to it? I knew that when we had mold in Kenya, my allergies were awful whenever i was in the house. Gosh, Merritt, what a bummer - keep us posted.

  5. Know this is a random hello from the past but the Kings KNOW your pain...except for the mold. Had our water heater unload in our home while we were out of town-3" or 4" of water in most of house, ruining brand new carpet/hardwood flooring. Thankfully our neighbor found it & started the water mediation within hours of it occuring but we still dealt with the mess(2 toddlers), moving out, & renovations over a couple of months. Not fun but we survived & mostly were reminded that our "stuff" is temporary. Our fam was happy & healthy so we were blessed! We'll be praying for your fam & hope it will be a quick, easy renovation process. God Bless! Zach & Ashley King
