Viva Las Vegas

Starting last year, Brent and I decided to make it a priority to get away without kids once a year...not easy with 4 little ones but very necessary! We are very thankful that mom and mike watched the kids for us last weekend so he and I could go to Vegas!

We had a great long weekend - filled with excellent shows, phenomenal food, and a little time in the casinos!!

 at the airport

Our first show was Jersey Boys - at Paris Las Vegas - so we ate at Mon Ami Gabi...we ate outisde and could see the fountain show at the Bellagio across the street...They had the best French Onion Soup ever!

We started off at the casinos mid mornings...it was great because they weren't busy so we could ask questions and talk to the dealers. We started off by playing Pawn Stars slot machines!

There were street performers everywhere...Brent was excited to see these too!   ( and I was glad he wanted his picture with Darth Vader and not the scantily dressed showgirls!)

Brents big win - $62!! Other than slots, we tried our hand at roulette and craps. I sucked at roulette but had some good rolls in craps!

Saturday night we had dinner and saw Cirque du Soleil LOVE in the Mirage. It was my favorite show by far. We tried to spend a little time wandering around a lot of the big casinos. They are all so elaborate and decorated so differently...We also went to New York New York - rode their roller coaster and had pizza for lunch.

There was no shortage of food during our trip!!!  We ate at Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill one night, had the best burgers/fries at Gordon Ramsay's Burgr for lunch one day, cooked our own meat on hot river rocks as an appetizer one night...so much good food!  We both discovered our love of truffle oil - we had several dishes with this in it and they were delicious!!!  Here I am eating light - parfait and mimosa for breakfast!

 Fountains outside the Bellagio

The LOVE show - was a Cirque show done to Beatles music..it had all the acrobatic stuff that Cirque shows have but also had tons of dancing. Whoever comes up with this stuff is amazing and thinks so far outside of the box!

We finished up our weekend with brunch at Bouchon at the Venetian and then took a gondola ride thru the casino.

And yes Cara, your brother likes mussels...for breakfast!!
